Why do we have fundraisers?

Fundraising and determining how the funds are spent is a major component to FES PTA. We promote at least one fundraiser each year. The past three years we have used ABC catalog for our main fundraiser. Last year we raised over $16,000.

The money we raised for the past two years was used to:

• Purchase playground equipment (the purple climber that was installed Fall 2007).
• Purchase a poster maker and a cold laminator for teachers to create visuals for their classrooms.
• Provide meals for staff during parent teacher conferences.
• Provide snacks for students during CSAP testing.
• Give staff holiday and teacher appreciation gifts.
• Help classrooms through our Classroom Education Grant Fund
  • This fund gives financial support to classroom educational needs that fall outside the SVVSD budget.
  • This fund has been used to buy software for the Special Ed Department, Shakespeare items for the Gifted & Talented program, 3rd grade Multiplication Sundae party, puzzles, books, pencil sharpeners or anything else that can help improve the classrooms.

These are things that we are working toward purchasing:

• Another piece of playground equipment (to replace old wooden structures).
• Sun shelter for playground

What Fundraisers are we doing this year?

For the 2008-2009 school year, FES PTA is sponsoring the following fundraisers:

• ABC Fundraiser
  • Kick-off Sept 5, 2008
  • Student sell items from a catalog to friends, family, and neighbors.
  • The more items students sell, the more prizes they will earn!
  • All orders must be turned in by Friday, Sept. 19.
• Gold C Coupon Books
  • Watch for more details to come.
• McDonald's "McTeacher" Night
  • Thursday, Oct 23, 2008 (4-7pm)
  • McDonald's of Frederick, Hwy 52 & I-25
  • Come and see our teachers "working" at McDonald's!
  • McDonald's will donate 20% of FES sales to our school.
• Campbell's Labels for Education
  • Start collecting the UPC labels off of Campbell's products.
  • Watch for more details to come.
• Cartridges for Kids
  • Send your empty ink cartridges into the school.
  • We will recycle them and earn funds for our school.
• Boxtops for Education
  • Collect the Boxtops labels off of General Mills (and many other affiliated companies) products.
  • Each Boxtop is worth 10 cents.
  • Send collected Boxtops to school with your child.

How can you get involved with fundraising?

Contact any member of the FES PTA to get involved with fundraising efforts. We are always looking for parent and teacher involvement!

Do you want to help decide how funds are spent?

Membership to FES PTA gives you a chance to give your input and opinion about how funds are spent. If you would like to be a voting member of FES PTA, come to one of our meetings or contact a member of the FES PTA.
